Two River Little League (TRLL) Baseball FAQ’s
How do I find the contact details of the opposing coaches, Town Rec Directors, and Umpire Directors?
- The Updated League & Coaches Contact Sheet can now be found in the Coaches Portal, under the Contact Tab
- TeamSnap can also be used for some of this info (i.e., opposing coaches’ email / mobile #s)
If I’m short players, can I ‘taxi’ players from another team in town?
Yes, but please follow these guidelines:
- Avoid picking the most talented players from other teams. This is a good opportunity for other ‘non-travel players’ to get additional game reps/experience.
- The taxi’d players must play outfield the entire game and bat last in the line-up.
- For playoff games, you must get consent from the opposing team’s coach first.
- If you need to “Taxi” a player, you have the ability to submit a taxi request in the Coaches Portal, under Taxi Requests.
Are coaches responsible for reporting game scores?
We ask the winning team’s coach to report final scores via the Coaches Portal.
- Scores need to be reported within 24 hours of the game’s conclusion, and we recommend doing it right after the game.
- Scores can be reported from our Mobile phone.
- If done correctly, this automatically feeds the official standings on the TRLL website, used for playoff seeding.
- If you don’t report correctly, you won’t receive points for playoff seeding (3 points for a win, 2 for a tie, 1 for a loss). If the score is not reported both teams will get 0 points.
Is there a pitch count limit?
Yes. 3 innings MAX for all TRLL regular season and playoff games.
- Please use your best judgment on player arm safety:
- If kids pitch travel on Sunday, throw them mid-week instead of Saturday.
- Avoid having a kid pitch 3 innings and then catch 3 innings.
For All-Stars, follow the official Little League international pitch count chart by age group (provided to all-star coaches).
If the weather forecast looks uncertain, who decides whether to play a game or not?
Typically, the home team’s Rec Department decides if fields are safe and open. They aim to provide 2 hours’ notice if games need to be cancelled.
- TRLL may provide league-wide cancellation if the weather affects all 5 towns.
- If games are cancelled, reschedule following the steps in the FAQ’s above.
- Coaches are responsible for rescheduling and should try to play all regular-season games before the playoffs.
- Games can be cancelled in the Coaches Portal.
Where do I find information on the TRLL All-Star process?
The TRLL All-Star Coordinator emails all details to coaches & parents in early May.
Eligibility: Regular season grade-level play is allowed, but All-Star eligibility follows a Sept 1 cutoff. Players “old” for their grade may try out for the grade above. See the age grid chart for details.
Please visit the All-Star Information page for more information and our birthday calculator.
If I am interested, how do I become an All-Star Coach?
To coach an All-Star team, you must have been a head or assistant coach during the TRLL regular season.
Please reach out to the All-Start Coordinator if you are interested.
Where does TRLL get its umpires from, and what are the general expectations?
TRLL games are officiated by a variety of umpires, including cadet umpires overseen by the Umpire Coordinator, and Veteran Umpires work alongside them.
Cadet umpires are teenagers learning the game and leadership skills.
They are encouraged and supported; coaches should remain patient and respectful, even if calls are occasionally incorrect.
All adults (head coaches, assistant coaches, umpires) are role models for youth players.
Beyond FAQs, what other resources do Coaches have for general league info and questions?
